Hey folks. Sorry if this is a constantly repeated question.
I have a friend that has asked me to program their Bearcat 396XT scanner. I am a RadioShack scanner guy myself but I told them I would try. My question.... is the programming cable that works for the RadShack scanners compatible to program Bearcat/Uniden Scanners? If not, what cable would I need to program my friends scanner.

Thanks.
Dave

Unless you have a serial port, then he already has a cable you can use.

True, but most newer PCs don't have serial ports anymore

The USB-1 is not the only model known to work with Uniden scanners. There are several others - and they're listed here, along with instructions on using Windoze Device Manager to help diagnose connection issues (and they often happen)

Connecting scanners via USB - The RadioReference Wiki

Note that anything in blue is a link...best regards..Mike
