Does the Pro-2096 take the same programming cable as the Pro-96 ?

If not, does anyone have the catalog number for the cable for the Pro-2096 ?

Thanks, Tim

Radio Shack only makes two cables thus far - the one-way cable used on the older scanners (PRO-2067, PRO-92, Etc.) and the 20-289 two-way cable that is used on the PRO-96, PRO-2096, and others.

Joe, the 20-289 is the cable for the Pro-92/2067, Pro-93, Pro-95, Pro-96/2096. The older cable which comes with the software (RS 20-048) is for the even older scanenrs, like Pro-76, Pro-79, etc.

That's funny. I have a one-way cable specifically marked for the PRO-2067, 2053, 92, and 93 scanners. It won't work on anything needing the two-way cable such as the PRO-96, 2096, Etc.

Of course a two-way cable will work one anything that only needs a one-way cable.

The 92 can use the one way cable. It can also use the 2way cable. It can also take advantage of the 2 way cable. Like backing up those counteless little lockouts and things you missed while programming it on the pc.

I have the same cable that I use on the pro-92's to the pro-2067 and the pro-95's and it also works on my 96. My computer cable also works on all 4 models.

I get off real easy - the same cable I program all my Yaesu ham radios with works as a full two-way when I slap a stereo-to-mono adapter on the end of it. Nothing like cutting down on the clutter in my junk drawer...

Hmmm, I have heard of one-way cables, but did it come from RS to begin with? I never knew them to carry a cable (not counting the one that came with the software 20-048) other than the GRE one that they have as 20-289.

Must have been before my time.
