programming cable

Will the radioshack USB Scanner Programming Cable work on my bcd996t or do i need to buy the uniden usb 1? Or is there another cable i could get at best buy or curcuit city or radioshack that would work just as well. Thanks Happy Holidays

The RS USB cable will not work. A mini 1/8" plug goes in the scanner. The Uniden uses a propriety like mini usb plug.

I was told no here. I finally got a serial com port going on my computer and use the supplied cable that came with my BCT15.

Many "Generic" USB --> RS232 adapters work (and are available at RadioShack, Best Buy, Fry's, Circuit City...). These cables have the USB plug on one end, and a DB-9 connector on the other. You plug the cable you got with your scanner into the DB-9. When you plug in the adapter, (assuming the drivers install properly) the PC assigns a COM port to the cable.
