Good Evening! I have a 250D with ARC250. I programmed Halton Region in my scanner under EDACS WIDE under FM. Everything looks good under the settings, Trunking ON, Lockout OFF. Everything was downloaded from Radio Reference Database so the frequencies are correct, but No Sound on that Trunk, all the other trunks are working?Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

I have the same settings as you do, and it works fine for me... just try clearing the bank, then loading it all back in. Thats what I had to do with OPP zone 2, and it worked fine.

No, just one site per bank.

Besides, Halton often patches different groups together.
You'll know this when you see the talk groups show up as 15-XXX
instead of 01-XXX or a 02-XXX specific group.

I prefer seeing talkgroups in AFS format as opposed to DEC
when I monitor EDACS.

Give it a try and hit SEARCH, you'll be suprised how busy the system is.

You can mix different towers together in the same bank,as long as
the locations are far apart.

Why do this ? Basically to optimize all the free space in the bank.

Since you have a handheld scanner,no doubt you'll be travelling with it
and you'll lose one control channel from a site and then acquire another one from another site when in range as your travelling. This will allow you to have seamless listening as you are mobile. An example would be putting Hamilton site and Pontypool site in the same bank. (you'll get the idea - check out a road map to see where
some of the tower sites are and then you can condense the banks.)

Glad to hear you have Halton working.

I'm lucky if I can pick off Site 1(Halton Hills), I'm just out of CC range .

Mciupa:

From what you said, we should put in towers that are far apart? I dont get it?

When I am mobile I noticed that the radio will stick with a tower even though there is a stronger more dominant tower close by.

For instance: when I travel up Hwy 6 up north the 296 sometimes sticks with the Owen Sound tower even though I press search and the Wiarton tower is coming in strong.

Right now I have a bank in my radio and the towers are entered in sucession as follows:

Toronto-King City-Miss-Hamilton-Grimsby-N.Falls, etc.

Would it be best to put the towers in another way? I.E. maybe put Toronto
then, for example put in a tower far away (London, Windsor)? I.E. mix up the locations.

Pls res

Eric

Yes, and if you notice some sites that are distant from each other have
almost identical freq.'s.(those would be a good match to share the bank with)

(If someone can explain why more eloquently, please jump in.)

It was a suggestion for someone when free space is at a premium.

I travel to the Windsor area sometimes and the way I have Fleetnet set up in my 796D is:

Bank 2: Mississauga, London and Essex CC's
Bank 3: Toronto, Woodstock and Chatham CC's
Bank 4: King City, Kitchener, Wardsville and Windsor CC's

The distance between these towers seems to be enough so that as I lose the CC signal on one, it picks up the next one. Works very well.

I do find a lot of "simulcasting" going on. For example, I'll hear Chatham OPP units on both the Chatham and London towers.

Interesting mr. Weather.

My setup is this for my 296:

Bank 1- Conventional non trunked frequs
2- Hamilton
3-Toronto Police
4-Toronto EMS EDACS
5- OPP, about 20 towers
6- MOH, same towers as above
7- MTO and Guelph same towers
8- Toronto FDP
9- OPP, towers along the corridor running up to the Bruce Pen
10- Toronto EMS protables

My problem is that I only have 4 banks I allocate for Fleetnet and 3 banks for the various services on the TPS.

It is frustrating when a weaker control channel dominates. I.E.once when I was in N.Falls the Grimsby tower was coming in weakly but it stopped and focused on this tower when further down bank #5 N.Falls tower would have been a better option.

Another way to make sure is to lock out towers as you pass thru and away from their jurisdication.

Anyways I am curious to see hoe others set up their rigs for fleetnet. Please feel free and post this info.

Right now in Toronto their is little activity other than MTO and OPP, I lock out the Toronto tower on my MOH bank and when I am north of Bloor I can pick up King City.

Hi people, here is my set up i have a pro 96. I haven't traveled to much, but it works great around my area. I hope to travel soon to see what it does else where and how it works. Heres the set up. Bank 0-Opp all control channels with MTO and MOH tags
Bank 1-EDACS Chatham-Kent and some coventional channels
Bank 2-EDACS Lambton FD and Sarnia PD digital coventional channels
Bank 3-Motorola Windsor PD and FD trunked
Bank 4-EDACS London FD trunked
Bank 5-EDACS London PD trunked
Bank 6-Opp all control channels, with all the tags.
Bank 7-Motorola trunked Detroit Area
Bank 8-Motorola trunked MSSP control channels and tags
Bank 9-Motorola trunked MSSP control channels and tags
I have to buy a cable before i can download more frequencies into the V-folder, as i did this all by hand alot of work. Then i could cover the Toronto area and other parts.
