Programming Issue

I got a WS1040 scanner to listen to the local/county police/sheriff communication traffic. I used PSR500 to upload the NC Viper Trunking info for Davidson County NC and Lexington NC. I can hear the local EMS, fire, etc. but for the Davidson County Sheriff communication and Lexington Police Dept communication, it's garbled. I am not familiar with how to manually program so I had hoped that uploading would be seamless but it wasn't. Is there a simple solution to this issue?

I believe both those agencies are fully encrypted now

Sounds like encryption which can't be monitored by any scanner

Radio Reference reports both are encrypted. Try listening to fire. If you hear fire fine, then you have it programmed correctly.

I am able to hear fire and ems fine so I guess encryption is the issue. Where could I have located that info on Radio Reference?

The link above is for the NC VIPER database. The Davidson simulcast site is 45 (RFSS 1). If you scroll down to the Davidson county section, you will see all the identified talkgroups listed. The "E" represents reported full-time encryption, which can be seen next to the SO dispatch and Lexington PD dispatch.
