• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi there,

We have about 30 MTS 2000 Radios at our Fire Department and we are looking at buying about 20 more. We have a programming cable for them but no software... I can not seem to find what software to use or where to buy it. I would prefer Motorola Software and not some 3rd party crap.

Any Tips are welcome!!!

I guess you intend on buying those additional 20 MTS2000's on the used market as Motorola has not been producing those for several years now. They have announced end of official support for this model 7/1/2010 per the latest support cycle info.

As far as software, there's no third party software, only from Motorola and it's windows based. The latest is ver 2.03 if I remember correctly. If your department has an account with Motorola and has a software agreement signed, you can order it. Otherwise call 800-422-4210 and set up an account, sign the software agreement and go from there.

Good luck.

Yes we plan on buying them used but I didnt know they were stopping support on them next year. So this means that even dealers wont work on them or what?

What is the exact name of the software?

More than anything it means no parts will be available for them from Motorola

The part number is RVN4176U. The most recent version is R02.03.00 which came out in January. Also sent PM.

If these are going on a Trunked radio system you would need authorization from the sys admin and the system key. More than likely you will have to have the sys admin program the radios as it is highly unlikely that they would give you the system key.
