Hey all,
I'm fairly experienced with D1N and programming handheld radios with it. I've also done some programming of a single-head NX5900 radio with it, and have been doing lots and lots of programming of older radios (TKx180 series) so I'm fairly comfortable with the whole programming routine.
I am about to receive a new radio setup early this coming week in a new fire engine. The install is three decks (NX-5700, 5800, and 5900) all tied to one KCH-20R head. I want to be ready to program the radios Tuesday when the truck leaves the install shop, so I want to be prepared. I've written the programming data files, but I'm curious how I will be doing the actual programming, since the KPG-46 cable plugs into the control head.
Am I going to have to disconnect the two radios I'm not working with while I program the one? In other words, when I program the 5700, do I unplug the 5800 and 5900 and program the 5700, then plug in the 5800 and unplug the 5700 and program the 5800, and then unplug the 5800 and plug in the 5900 and program that one, then plug them all back in? Or is there a different method that requires no fiddling with the decks?
