The statewide trunking system in Maine (MSCOMNET) recently added a site in Portland. I wanted to add the new site to my SDS200 and so I opened Proscan to enter the data.

I set up the frequencies, name, Quick Key information, didn't check AVOID and so on. I don't use location for that system, in case someone asks.

I then programmed it into my SDS100 to make sure I entered everything okay. Note that I am way out of range of the system, so I didn't expect to hear anything.

I started the scanner and everything loaded correctly. I set the system to hold and watched the sites cycle through. They all cycled except the Portland site. I stepped through the sites and it wasn't there. I went into Manage Favorites and drilled down to the system. The Portland site was there. I double checked to make sure I had everything correct and reloaded the data. Still nothing.

Eventually I decided to load the data using ARC536. For some reason that worked and the site cycled through properly. I read the data out of the scanner using ProScan and saved it. Then I programmed it into the SDS200 and it worked.

I still have no clue what happened, so maybe someone else knows and can tell me. I don't think it's a Proscan issue, I think I programmed something in wrong even though I checked it against the other sites I've programmed in previously and it was the same. This is the first time I tried to add a site to this system using Proscan.

I didn't save it once I figured out the work around. It's still kind of weird and if I have to add sites to any other P25 systems, I'll keep a close eye on whether they work or not.

If you imported the additional site, it might have imported it to a 'new' system, which only had the site. Sometimes, when importing additional sites, departments, or talkgroups, if you are not careful, it does not add them to an existing system, instead creating an 'orphan' system with on;y what you just imported. If that is the case, you can select & copy that item (node) and paste it into the system it should be in, or just use your mouse to drag & drop it into your existing system.

No, I added a Site manually using Proscan. Set up the options and then added the four frequencies. Made sure that it was not set to avoid. I also don't use location control for that system. I'm pretty sure it was some minor error somewhere, but darned if I could find it.

When I did essentially the same thing in ARC536 it worked fine. My work around was to load it into the SDS100 using ARC536, then read the data out using Proscan. I then attached that site to my SDS200 profile for Maine and it worked.

Probably more work than I needed to do, but I was getting pretty annoyed with the whole thing and wishing I could go back to the days when a 10 channel crystal scanner was more than sufficient! ;)
