If you click on where it says "site 1" "site 2" or "site 3" where the frequencies are listed in the db, the LCN's are shown on the following page - where it says "CH ID" in the frequency table.

Yes. If you'd read the threads about the update, you'd have known that.

Thanks! One more question, do I have to program all the frequencies or just the control channels?

Program all frequencies for NXDN, along with the corresponding LCN.

Thanks. Got it programmed. I assume it is picking up the control channel because the signal bars will show up. I'll listen for a while and see if I hear traffic. Not sure how busy the system is.

Thanks again for everyone's help.

Just curious, are you are scanning in ID search mode (func+enter when on that system)?

I didnt see any TGs listed for that system yet, and I want t make sure you have the scanner enabled for proper hunting on that system.

I already had the system setup for ID SEARCH mode, so I should be good to go. Thanks for the suggestion.

It is likely that none of those three sites has the correct LCNs in them. So, don't anticipate the scanner properly trunking until the LCNs are figured out. You'll have to run LCN Finder to figure out the LCNs.

A few things to keep in mind:

  • There are probably more sites not currently known
  • There are probably more or less frequencies active on each site than are listed in the DB
  • You'll want to run LCN Finder in an attempt to gather the proper LCN info and probably won't hear much of anything until you do

Once you know the LCNs, please submit updates to the database so the correct LCNs can be added to the database.

Thanks. Time for me to try and learn about the scanners LCN Finder feature. I have never used it before.

I have to admit - even I didn't know about clicking the site links.

But, I don't believe the listed LCNs (CH IDs) are correct.

Program the frequencies only then use LCN Finder on each site.

If you are trying to use LCN Finder, you'll want to make sure you have enabled the particular trunked system (and site) for scanning. If you have scanning disabled for the system, or the site on the system that you want to run LCN Finder, you wouldn't be able to find the system/site in LCN FInder in order to use LCN Finder.

Once you know you have the system/site enabled for scanning:

1. Menu --> Analyze --> LCN Finder

2. Rotate the knob and use the <> (4 and 6 keys) to type in the first part of the name of the system. Partial is OK. Let's assume you actually called the new system "Tennessee Fleet Talk", and let's assume you don't have any other systems programmed in that begin with Tennessee, then you can just use the knob and cursor keys to type in Ten and then press down on the volume knob. You should then see the name of the system. Then press down on the volume knob again, select the site, and press down on the Volume knob again. At that point you should see the "LCN Finder Searching" screen pop up.

And if that system is the only one being scanned, you can just hit ENTER at step 2 when it asks for the site name and a list will be presented.

I was able to find 4 out of 5 LCN's so far for the first site. I'll look for the rest tomorrow (it is past my bedtime!) and submit them to the admins. Thanks for your help.

it doesn't have to be just a single system
you can hit enter without typing anything and it will bring up a list of all systems Mine does anyway

True, but scanning only that system means only those sites will be shown. That makes it easier - especially on the newbie.

Trying to work out this system...

https://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?fccCallsign=WPRF321

I have figured out which freqs are assigned to each of the 3 locations and it's an NXDN48 system but am trying to figure out how to program it as a trunked system. I'm guessing it's 3 seperate systems, 2 with 2 freqs and one with 3. There is a control station with 4 freqs. I'm not sure how I would program this or even if it's 3 seperate or 1 larger system with 3 sites. Looking at the ULS version is a little easier to decipher locations but I'm still confused on how to figure out what type of system it is. I have picked up a RAN of 36 at the 3 locations which implies its a trunked system.

Any ideas on how i should set this up?

What I would do is....when you do the custom search do you hear activity on all of the frequencies? Write them down, program in one site, run LCN finder and see how it goes.

So what exactly do the control station freqs do? I’ve heard voice traffic on a couple of them as well.
