Programming Pro-163 with Win97

I have entered all the programming info into Win97 after connecting the cable and trying to upload to the Pro -163 I find that according to the scanner screen it never enters upload mode. I assume my computer has recognized the scanner because if I unplug the cable during the upload I get a message saying the upload has been interrupted. Any suggestions?

You are using the USB programming cable(part# 20-047), correct? It needs to be used with the stereo plug. If you are using the old 20-289 cable, it won't work with the 163.

I am using the old serial port cable. Sounds like I need to go to RS. Thanks, I'll let you know. David

OK, went to RS, bought the correct cable, installed the driver for the cable.

Connected the cable to the 163, scanner screen says "clone mode"

Tried to upload to scanner but still no luck.

Any ideas?
