• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Ok, so I'm not sure what I did here, but I sure hope it's fixable!

I took the personality from a 700P system model, read it from the radio, changed the radio type to "P7100 Scan", changed the groups with "Provoice" from the 700P to "Analog" to program into the P7100.

Now, it shows up with all of the systems programmed in the radio, but the only group that I am able to use at all is Ch. 1 in the first system. If I try to change to a different system, it says "INV SYS" on the screen.

I looked in the feature string in the radio and now it says:

SYSGRP# - 0
TRKSYS# - 255

So basically it is saying now that it will monitor 255 trucked systems, but 0 (well, 1) group?

Is there any way to fix this?

its saying that you have the capacity to have 255 Trunked Systems, but NO System Groups. Long story short, it means the radio is not set up for EDACS. Conventional only operation.

You could get the feature added from harris, unsure what the cost would be for that.

I have an EDACS provoice channel programmed in there and it works just fine...I can hear traffic on it. It just won't let me switch channels at all...

It could very well be a glitch in the way it handles features. I have exceeded the number of SYSGRP and the radio will work fine if you rearrange things a bit in the personality, but will give fits when you cross the line.

Is it option 8 that it has to have for EDACS operation? It says emergency operation, but I'm not sure if thats the same thing or not. I know 29 is provoice...
