Good Evening Folks:

Pro 197, everythings loading with software into the radio, no problem there, problem Im having is, I try to load Texas DPS into Scanlist 1. It loads fine.. in Scanlist 2 I put Galveston/Harris Co. it loads fine, but, it appears to erase whats in scanlist 1, because, if I turn off all the scanlists, except one that has to be turned on, it says "Nothing enabled", so, any ideas?.

You need to remember that programming a radio using software doesn't follow the idea of "Add this to the scanner" but is more like "Replace what's on the scanner with this". You need to have your software contain everything you want loaded onto the scanner when you do your upload. One good way to ensure this is to first download your scanner into the software, make any changes and then upload it again. If you simply upload the changes you could easily drop much of your prior programming as you saw.

All You have to remember is to add it all at once, the easiest way to do it is to save a copy of what You upload to the scanner, and add new things to the list as You find it, and each time save a copy of everything..

The newer scanners require a slightly different way of thinking. To update, download what you have in the scanner to your computer, make your updates, then re-upload the whole thing to the scanner.
Me, I program by hand, not having a computer/software.

The so-called "problem" being discussed in this thread is the fact that with the GRE PSR-500 family of scanners (GRE PSR-500 and PSR-600, as well as the Radio Shack PRO-106 and PRO-197, Digital Trunking Scanners), any file upload overwrites the scanners working memory. The PRO-97 works EXACTLY the same way.

If you're "having the same problem with a pro 106" and plan to "keep using" a pro 97, you'll continue to have "the same problem."

I'm having issues getting my 106 to receive trucked frequencies. Is there any history of this model having widespread issues receiving trucked frequencies? Someone tried to tell me many of these are lemons.

Thanks for the Help, I still program by hand, most the Aviation Frequencies, Ive never used software before to program a radio, so, its all new to me, alittle behind the times I guess.
