Programming puzzle

Hey guys, I've been looking throughout the internet but the instructions are a bit confusing for me, im just not understanding it, my friend got me a gre psr-500 two days ago as a gift and im just trying to figure out how to program it properly for san diego, and listen properly, i tried using arc500 and uploading some files, i think it was the rcs and whatnot, but i don't know what im doing so if someone can give me some help, id appreciate it, im almost ready to send the scanner to get it programmed or something... =\

I don't have any experience programming GRE scanners; the only advice I can offer you is to keep lurking the forums and DO NOT send it to the mudshack for programming...

Welcome to RR. Looks as you have everything that you need to do it. The next thing is to figure out what it is that you want to listen to, checking your area in the RR database. Its listed by county and then by the different comm. systems that are in the area. Like Public Safety and public service, private companies, etc. Take a look here and decide on what it is that your interested in monitoring. http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?ctid=219
