15 pin is not a serial port. You need a serial port.

I use a serial to usb converter. I picked it up from radio shack and it works great. when you install it though the computer will assign it an open com port you need to go into the control pannel, then system, then device manager, then com ports, then click on the usb converter and under advanced properties it will tell you what com port it has assigned. Then using the radio software reassign the com port to match the actual assignment. Like I said that is what I use every time and it works great.

Is it just a cable or is there literally a box in the middle cuz I gotta tell you the RS store in Orange are just outright dumb or something. I found a gray cable that looks like it may do the job, cost like 29 bucks, but all I got was a look and I've never heard of that before - then the other employee was like - I've only worked here 5 months - kinda like "Radio Shack you've got questions, well so do we". Is there one of their numbers on the thing or do you have it from the reciept, because, 1st I'm gonna go to Milford and buy it - cuz ya know what after this experience, Orange is totally out of the question for anything other than batteries.

Thanks,
Joe
