• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi

i want to program this system but only site 8 and only the control channel in red but even if i add only this frequency when signal is lost my g5 switch automatically to any control channel of any site

is there a way to program this G5 to only stay and get this frequency without switching to another control channel on another site

If your G5 is switching to other sites and you ONLY have the control channels for 1 site then you have a wildcard set up for site numbers.
Under Tab D 2 P25 Trunking System Settings, then click Site List You need to have RFSS ID Hex as 1 and Site ID Hex as 8.
My guess is you have wildcards (FF) set up there and initially its locking on to the correct site because you have the control channel listed but then it goes to wildcard after that.
Also add the alternate control channels for site 8.

To answer your question, yes. Do not use wildcards. Use only the information provided for site 8 and it will only monitor site 8.

The control channel sends out the neighboring sites frequencies so the radio / pager will stay on the system when moving around

Correct IF he has wildcards set for his sites. He is wanting to stay on Site 1-8 and not roam to other ones.
So by removing the wildcards, and setting 1-8 in his G5, he will not roam to other sites.
I monitor a system where certain cities ONLY use certain sites. So if i want to monitor City of bob fire dept, and they are assigned 1-5 i NEED to stay on site 1-5. So i have my G4 set up with multiple "systems" that are actually just individual sites in that larger system so i can make sure my G4 stays on the site the agency i am monitoring is assigned to.
Sure 1-3 might be closer but city of bob fire dept radios are set up to only use 1-5.
wild cards work for some, but not everyone.
