• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I got a Radioddity QT40 a while back (10 meter mobile that can also do 11 meter) Did the mod (jumper) and downloaded the programming software (radio came with the special USB cable) I got a bit confused on how use the software... made some changes and clicked on "save" (I thought that meant save to radio) Realized my mistake and tried again (read from radio, make changes, write to radio) I was frustrated and in a hurry (never a good thing LOL) Somehow I ended up with 11 meter (CB) on band E-High. Every video I've watched they show it on D band. Not sure if this matters (and it works fine this way) Also, I'm studying for my technician license so will want to use 10 meter soon (basically 28.300-28.500 Mhz) Should I reset the radio to default and start over or just leave be as is? BTW, my antenna is A-99 and can be tuned to 10 meter (hoping to do DX on SSB)

On some radios you can rename the bands in the menu to what you want, letter wise.

This is a "channelized" radio. I understand but at this point I am going to start over. I'm considering doing a reset using the mic and radio controls, then programming with a PC. Thank you because I did do something wonky.

It going to be a challenge to work 10 meter contacts on this type of radio.

You really need a radio with a VFO that can be tuned to any frequency from 28.300 to 28.500 MHz. The Stations you wish to make contact with won't be on all be on even frequencies spaced 10 kHz apart like 28.435.

Then stations will more on frequencies like 28.433.5.

Most radios that have the export mod can be put into VFO mode, like i have on my President George 2.
