Paid the 15.00 to radio reference cant find software to download to psr 500 how does it work?

I live in Burleson tx. maybe somebodys close to program this scanner gre psr500

Basically you use the programming cable on your Windows based PC (Linux & Mac aren't really supported), load the desired software (the "big 3" all have a free 30 day trial so check them all out to see which works best for you since they're all equally good with different interfaces so it's not which one is best, it's which one works the way you do).
Once you have the software working, use the menu to access the RR database and select the desired system(s). Download the selected system(s) to the software and customize as desired. Once you have things as you like, upload from the software to the scanner. Finally unhook the cable and start monitoring!

I'm not sure what the big 3 are where do i go to get to the software? not really sure how or what to download

Is there someplace i can take the scanner to have it programmed ?.I can type these messages and use pay pal thats about it.
tried to download the software, no luck.

Check your firewall and/or antivirus settings. Undoubtedly one or both is blocking downloads

Icould see the win500 page but does not respond to anything. Im really not very good with computers.What about the clone feature?
"Clone" is only going to work if you can meet up with somebody with a 'compatible' scanner.
Besides a PSR-500, you could also clone with a PSR-600, or Radio Shack models Pro-106 (their version of your PSR-500) or Pro-197.
It sounds like there is something in your security settings, either a firewall setting, or maybe your internet browser (are you using Internet Explorer?) that is preventing you from downloading a file from a website.I suspect that the same settings might thwart an attempt for someone to download it for you & email it to you as an attachment, if you use Outlook, or Outlook Express.
Shut down all your blockers and just download the files you need and do nothing more. 9 out of 10 times youll be fine. I have done it before. Just restart after downloading then let things load normally. If you can go into windows safe mode with networking mode you can download off the net and should have no issue.

So there is no place i can take this to have it programmed with Johnson county and Dps freq?

Redhelmet13, My wife worked on it last night, think i got burleson trunk system ,can here some calls . it says scanning dps repeaters but i haven,t heard any calls . does this sound about right for Burleson? And thank you for the offer . txmab.

Did you program them for NAC search? Remember they are p25 conventional. (DPS).
They dont talk as much as they used to because of the MDC's in the troopers vehicle.

Every once in awhile a P25 indication will appear but no sound . every thing on johnson county from RR was input... still on a learning curve here.. also can't get led to light while picking up trunk station.
Okay figured out the led thing... when i go to download another trunk will it erase the one thats already there? a message says it will.. using psr edit500. i have burleson but what if iadded tarrant or.... just too much info.......for everybody ,ha.......

Yes there is a learning curve... Which DPS repeaters are you trying to listen to? You program the talkgroup for the LED to light up on a TRS.
dps 1-20 rpt base a ,base b ,etc...not a word on these
