I have a system listed in the RR database like this:

System Type: Motorola Type II SmartZone
System Voice: Analog and APCO-25 Common Air Interface

The system ID is C11E (Memphis/Shelby Co. Public Safety)

When programing the system and site, I think I need to choose Motorola type 2/P25 for the system type, and what for the site type?

800mhz standard or P25? Where in the manual does it talk about the differences?

Also, what is an 800mhz splinter system?

Now, I already have it programmed as 800mhz standard and I get activity, but there's this annoying distorted speech occasionally.

I tried the P25 setting and I got nothing, except for some VERY CLEAR guy on an unknown talkgroup sayign the 'system is back up' or something similar. NOTHING after that for about 5 minutes, and this is a very busy system 24 hours a day.

When exactly is P25 supposed to be chosen over 800mhz standard?

Thanks

That would be a Motorola Standard 800 MHz system.

P25 would be selected when the System Type is Project 25 Standard

k.. just making 100% sure.

I think my problem is interference, and how digital voice sounds with it. I'm used to the old-fashioned 'hiss'.

Thanks!
