Programming VHF Radios

When programming a UHF radio, the TX freq. is 99% of the time 5 MHz higher than the RX frequency, unless it is a talk-around channel, etc. When programming a VHF radio, are most of them simplex? Do you go 5 MHz higher or what?

Repeaters on 450-470 should be 5 MHz higher - period. 470-512 should be 3 MHz higher.

Repeaters on VHF do not have ANY standard spacing on the commercial bands. It could be 8.625 MHz up, or 150 kHz down. You just have to know the input frequency.

I agree 100% that the UHF repeater SHOULD be 5 MHz higher, but you do find those that are inverted - WSB radio traffic reporting channel is 455.2500 on the repeater output with 450.2500 as input!
