• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I have some XPR 6550 portable radios. I would like to have one channel act as a pager for Quick Call II calls. I have programmed HT1250 and CDM radios no problem, however the XPR series does not act in the same fashion. Does anyone have feed back on this would be great.

Thanks

Graham

I'f I'm not mistaken, Set the radio to Sel Call under the QC-II settings and set them accordingly. Under the analog system, set the two tone info. Under the Receive channel settings select the signaling. Should be it but I don't have a radio in-front of me to mess with as it's not a common feature that I see used.

When you're in CPS go to signalling systems, then "Quick-Call II" create your Quick Call systems, you can actually alias them. Enter your tone information. Go to your desired channel that you want to set up as a pager channel. Under the RX portion select your quick call system.

On the 7550 and 5550, the tones must be at least 0.8 seconds to trigger the alert. Some agencies shorten up the tones to speed up dispatches and they won’t work on the XPRs. No way to adjust the timing that I’ve found.

I've seen this as well even on the 4xxx and 6xxx series XPRs. My county uses shorter timing, my XPRs never opened up. My county timing is 2 seconds by 1 second.

In older radios there was a setting for signaling squelch that one could set to 'and' or 'or'.
Setting it to and would mean the channel would only open up when tones hit and would cause the alert. Setting it to or would allow the channel to remain open while still alerting to the tones.
I have my xpr6550 alerting to the tones on an open channel. But is there a way to set it up and the 'and' setting?

How do you find the exact tones for a department? I would like to have my HT1250 page when a tone went out.
