Last night, in the Montgomery County, Maryland - Bethesda Police District, I heard some type of special ops being conducted on one of the side channels.
The ops involved a dispatcher (which is rare for the PD side), a K9 officer, and several of the Bethesda beat officers.
When I picked up in the conversations, the K9 officer was detailing that he was receiving 20-30% signal and tracking south into the district. A Lookout was re-broadcast on the ops channel for a 71 year old Alzheimers patient.
As the operation contiunued, the K9 officer would chime in his location and signal strength (I don't know if he was in his vehicle or on foot). I assumed he was perhaps using Lo-Jack device.
Several minutes later another officer chimed up that the patients picture had been successfully uploaded to "projectlifesaver.com" (via his MDT I believe)
So, being the inquisitive guy that I am, (and after waiting out another goal line stance in last nights game) I checked out the web site.
Apparently, you can "tag" the elderly, and through a radio emitting bracelet, track the old geezers down with a homing device.
The site itself never did reveal a section of photo's for missing patients, so I am not sure what the uploading was about, but if you click the link for "Care Track International" it describes some basics about the transmitter.
Anyway....just thought this was interesting.
Paul
P.S. The patient returned home on his own, and the ops were cancelled.
