Being 100% sure that I would not lose any calls, which Control Channel(s) should I use in the following situations if I was monitoring from Coors Field:
1 - Adams County S.O. / Thornton FD / Sable Altura FD, North Washington FD, etc.
2- A State Patrol Trooper in route from Parker to Boulder.
3- Douglas County S.O. / Parker FD, etc.
4- Jefferson County, >>>>>>>>>>>

So far I have all of Adams County in a folder using EVERY CC in a 50 mile radius, and it seems to be working, but am I losing response time having so many CC's?

1- Thorodin, Smoky
2- Riley, Lookout (1C) Thorodin (6C)
3- Lookout, Riley
4- Lookout.

Looks like Lookout, Riley and Thorodin are more common.

I'm thinking overkill for too many sites being scanned though.

That kind makes sense, except the Smokey tower is way far away from Adam County. I would have thought that for my #2. Am I right in thinking that a conversation could change towers in midstream just as the actual freq. changes whenever a radio is keyed up? That brings up another question while I'm here. I've read on the forums that the actual radio ID being keyed up can be shown on the PSR500. How the heck do I do this?

I listed smoky because of your Sable-Altura request and I have some doubt you would hear the Bennett/ZAP site from downtown.

I would suggest Chevron and Glendale CC's also for South Metro, Englewood, Cunningham, Littleton etc FD's. That's what I use almost exclusively from downtown Denver.

Thanks Jim / I'll keep them in my group.
On the 2096 I had for a short time it showed the tower & system it was receiving.
I guess the PSR500 doesn't do this. Do you have yours set up as a Multi Site, and if so which setting? I will be doing lots of experiments Sunday,
so I'm sure I'll have more questions.

Jim / Which tower is Glendale? I have to leave for a Broncos party and will be back tonight. So far I have towers 102-103-105-106-107-108-147? ZAP-164-322? Adams simulcast.

Remember less is often more when it comes to control channels most of us only use a handful of CC's in the metro area with better results.

Glendale is Site 120, 853.700

Thanks again Jim. I'll add Glendale and take out 101-103-147- ?322 (or should I keep 322).
I watched the game at 120th & Pecos in a townhouse and the PSR500 would not pick up Denver at all (bummer).

Having multiple CC's in the radio doesn't always buy you better coverage. I don't know about the GRE radios, but if you've got a Uniden BC396T....then no matter what...it will stop and lock on the first control channel it finds....which may not always be the best one for the sites you wish to listen to.

Thanks Don. That's what I'm learning, but as I originally said, I just want to be sure I'm not missing anything. I think I just need to limit my scanlist to less agencies, therefore less CC's.

When programming a multi-site system into the GRE's, the user has two different options when to choose from, Stationary and Roam. When the roam mode is on, the radio will park on the first CC it finds until it loses the signal. Stationary mode lets the scanner look at ever CC programed into the system.

I have started figuring this out with my 396, and for each system I program, I list towers in order to default it to the needed tower. I made the mistake when I first got my radio of programing the same tower list into every system and found I couldn't hear things I wanted, hmm wonder why. :)

Erik / Which should I use? I've been keeping the setting 'off'. Do you work Sundays or Mondays?
