Hi,

I just installed ProScan on an iMac. Running Windows 10 Virtual Machine via Parallels. I have a BCD 396XT and a 996XT, the original Uniden USB programming cable that came with the 396XT when I bought it several years ago. The cable shows up as Port 4 in the Windows Device Manager, and ProScan shows it on Port 4.

The Windows Device Manager is stating something about the cable being obsolete in 2012. Is this a common problem with the original cable, or is there some other alternative that I'm missing?

Thanks!

The chip used in the original USB-1 is not supported by Windows 10. If you get it to work, use it, but Windows 10 may simply refuse to let you do that.
Uniden USB-1 Cable
Important Windows 8 and 10 Information
The current Prolific Driver, as delivered through their web site and through Windows Update for Windows 8 and 10, will not work with older USB-1 cables that use the PL2303HXA chipset. To use these drivers you must have a current USB-1 cable that uses the PL2303HXD chipset. If your cable was bought before 2013 you need to buy a new cable.

I have a 396XT, the older cable, and Windows 10. Able to get it to work using an older Prolific driver. Only problem is that sometimes with Windows updates it will install a newer driver and I have to do it all over again.
