After updating computer the scanner control screen comes up blank, not showing anything.
I removed proscan and reinstalled it, no good
I restarted the computer multiple times, no good
The favorites editor is the only thing that comes up
The program shows two windows in the task bar, 20250220_153342.jpgbut I cannot display the scanner one
Anybody have any ideas? Thanks

You don't mention what version of @ProScan your running.
Nor the model scanner...
Nevermind, saw SDS100 in the screenshot
@stevehfde2, welcome to the forums. You'll need to place the scanner in serial mode (connect USB cable, and press . / no when the SDS100's screen prompts you to then follow the instructions on pages 4 & 5 of the Proscan manual to ensure the correct comm port is selected. Check device manager to ensure no driver issues with said comm port.

SDS100 hooked up to computer as per instructions
port and driver ok
the screen shot on my previous post shows a blank scanner screen in the taskbar,
when attempting to open said screen it does nothing. will not open at all
the only screen that opens is the favorites editor. does any one have an idea? Thanks

I would look more toward the computer and perhaps how it is interacting with ProScan rather that Proscan and the scanner. There are many, many people who use the software and this appears to be a new issue. I would have expected to have seen it before in these forums.
Strange appearance of the two windows with the large print title above them with an opaque border. No "X" in the corner for closing. Perhaps that is a stock windows 10/11 thing as I use open shell to emulate the older windows settings.
Have you tried an older version of ProScan?

Can you send me the ProScan..cfg file so I can take a look and see what's happening. It should be located in the ProScan folder.
If ProScan is installed in the "Program Files (x86)" folder then it should be in the VirtualStore folder located at C:\Users\
[user]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\ProScan.

Thanks to all who responded, I messed with multiple things and got it working. Don't know exactly what fixed it but it was defiantly the computer.

When you updated did the .NET framework change?
I’d look at .net framework or display driver as likely candidates.
I don't think it was a .NET Framework 4.8 problem. If it was, ProScan wouldn't run at all.

My guess is ProScan was minimized to the Notification area or the main ProScan window was offscreen.
If this option is checked then that would explain it.

Go to the Audio Control - Recorders tab and see if the input device is set correctly. If it is then change it to None then back to what it was.
If it still doesn't work then go to the Win Mixer and see if the input shows enabled and plugged in.
