I was wondering if anyone has the state ARMER frequencies on a file for Proscan. I'm running a Uniden BC796D and cannot get it to work on a file a buddy sent to me for ARC500.

Yea, probably proprietary and incompatible files.
I use Proscan for SDS200 and 996p2. If you tell me your location I might be able to program something up.

EDIT - I might not be able to help you, just some quick playing around, I couldn't even figure out how to create a system.
Anyway, in case someone does not have a file for your area, you should be able to use your owners manual to create a system from the front panel. It is a P25 system. you need to add the frequencies, probably only the Control Channel should do. Also, you need to add talkgroups, all of which can be found @ the link below.

On the 796, each site has to be imported separately so choose just one site then enter in the starting channel then click the import button. After that, select another site and do the same thing.

A shortcut in the ProScan RadioReference import screen to get to the system easier is to go to the Direct Entry tab, then choose sid and type in the sid# 3508 then click the retrieve data then go to the Select tab to select the sites and talkgroups

The 796D is an "ancient" scanner. There are limitations on the memory that will be exceeded by the requirements of the entire ARMER system. As such I wouldn't hold out much hope for someone having a Proscan file for this system. Most scanner folks will use an SDS model scanner if they are in a larger city area using simulcast. If not, then an x36 model may be fine.

I tried receiving Minneapolis "stuff" with a 796D some 15 years ago without success.

I have several 796D's. You are lucky that the ARMER system is all 800 MHz. The 796D does not support 700 MHz frequencies. It also allows only a single site per system. Surprising, I found that it handles simulcast better than many of the newer scanners. What is your city and county and which agencies would you like to monitor? Without knowing your location, there is no way we can help. ARC500 is for a different breed of scanners. It doesn't work with a 796D. ProScan will do the job for you. I used ARC250 to program my scanners. The 796D has enough resources for your local area.
