the 10.X.X.X is the router not a pc
If the 10 IP is the LAN address of the router, then your PC needs to have an IP on the same network.

Do you have a 2nd router somewhere?Has anyone heard of a double NAT issue? This what Netgear is suggesting.
I think I have the same setup. The box is called a ONT(Optical Network Terminal). It doesn't do any routing. It's just an interface to the Ethernet & TV. My ISP is Frontier. My network has a box on the outside that is connected to my router via a cat6 cable.
I am an EMT, I dont make that muchOr you could hire a network person to setup your network.
Sounds like the ONT is working as a router and handing a 10.x.x.x IP address to the Netgear router which hands out 172.x.x.x addresses.
KC9KOA1, Can you post the model # of your ONT?
Mine is "I-211M-L" I did a google search and it's a pass-through type that doesn't do routing and it's not even configurable. Just want to see if yours does routing so we can focus or eliminate that area.
