I'm having some problems configuring and accessing the web server for an SDS200. We had everything working then Spectrum put in a new router. After reconfiguring the IP address, setting it to DHCP (Reserved Reservation) instead of static and reconnecting ProScan we can no longer access the web server on port 5000 internally or externally. I'm baffled and looking for some advice. Let's start with accessing it internally.

After rebooting the SDS200 we are able to see the default page at the reserved IP 192.168.1.114.

The web server is started without a password required, running on port 5000, not published using an insecure connection (http)

The web server goes down intermittently, but comes back after rebooting the SDS200. When it's not accessible, the device is pingable but then the default page (http:///192.168.1.114) doesn't load. Accessing it using the port http://192.168.1.114:5000 results in the same error shown below (192.168.1.114 and 192.168.168.114:5000 refused to connect). Even when we can see the default page at http://192.168.1.114 using the port http://192.168.1.114:5000 doesn't load the scanner interface.

In the Comm Port settings we have URL selected and the IP is detected and connected, but when we click Set it displays Port 1 and Available.

There's a drop down for previously detected scanner urls and we have selected the current one (192.168.1.114) after detection and ProScan connects.

As far as the local computer running ProScan goes, we have Norton360 is installed. Under Settings > Firewall > Program Control we have ProScan (C:\ProScan\ProScan.exe) registered and allowed. In Traffic Rules we have Port 5000 set to allow. We have also tried Disabling Smart Firewall and Active Protection.

Any ideas what might be causing this and how to fix it?

There are 2 connections we're dealing with.

Connection 1 - Scanner Ethernet to ProScan URL
Scanner IP address: 192.168.1.114.
I would get this connection working solidly before moving on to connection 2
If the SDS200 requires frequent reboot then I would swap out the Ethernet cables, one at a time, in the path between the scanner and the computer running ProScan

Connection 2- ProScan Web Server to browser
Computer IP address: 192.168.1.230
Test using a browser on a computer that is on the inside of your network.
Enter in 192.168.1.230:5000 in the browser and see if the browser can connect.

Do you plan on using a web browser on the outside of your network such as on a smartphone?
If so then we need to setup the Router Port Forwarding.

Also take a look at this document. It's written for the BCD536HP so ignore the part on setting up the BCD536 Wi-Fi but everything else applies.

Bingo! That was it. The web server runs on the local computer running the ProScan software. The web server doesn't run on the SDS200. So, when we access it through a browsers locally, reserve the IP on the router and forward the port we use the IP of the local computer (192.168.1.230) not the scanner (192.168.1.114). Thanks for the help!! Everything is running perfectly now.
