As if the 436 going out on me wasn't enough, now the 536 is giving me grief.

I cannot get Proscan to load. It gets stuck on that damn LOADING panel and just freezes. Sits on top of everything else on the computer. I have tried reinstalling, I have tried rebooting, I have tried loading different versions, including the latest. Nothing works.

I don't know what I did to make uniden decide all of a sudden it doesn't like me, but I have had enough of this. Both the 436 and the 536 are giving me grief. Enough of this already. It may be time to buy some Whistlers.

I know with mine it seems to get stuck on "loading recordings" but that is alot of recordings it is sorting through.

Hope that helps

Another problem I am having is backlight. I had it set to open squelch and then alluva sudden it insisted on staying on all the time. I have to keep pressing the volume button every time I turn it on. I checked the firmware and it is the latest version. Very annoying.

I am not recording anything. The software will not load. It will not run. I couldn't record anything even if I wanted to.

Your computer has corrupted some files....

(1) Delete your current install of Proscan
(2) On your computer's C drive, Go to "C:\Users\<your user name>\AppData\Local\Uniden"
(3) Delete the entire folder that starts with "BCDx36HP_Sentinel.exe_Url......"
(4) Re-install the latest version of Proscan.

I thought it might be something like that? Nothing else could account for even the previous versions not working. I was hoping the uninstall would take care of that. Apparently not. I will try your advice...

Tried it a third time and even rebooted between installs. Nothing.

Can someone at least tell me how to fix this damn backlight so it doesn't stay on all the time?

Tried it twice. Didn't work.

What version of Windows are you using?

Check to be sure you deleted the correct folder beginning with "BCDx36HP_Sentinel.exe_Url...…", there may be other folders there with similar names. There should be a sub folder under that folder, and that sub folder should contain the "user.config" file. That fix has worked previously for other users, and was outlined in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article.

Try this... create another user profile for windows and log into that user name. Install Proscan under that user name and see if it runs. If so, it proves out that the above fix should work if the correct folder was deleted.

I don't know that I want to go through all the trouble of creating another profile. It seems ridiculous that anyone should have to do that just to run software.

I am using Windows 7.

There is no c:\documents and settings.

But there is a c:\programdata that had some files in it. I deleted those and still nothing. It seems nothing I do makes uniden happy anymore.

Have you made any recent changes or deletions, or have you seen any error messages relating to ".NET Framework"?

Are you able to run the Sentinel software?

Not that I know of. One day it worked and the next day it didn't. Obviously something happened, but I have no idea what I might have done? Are there programs that are incompatible with this? I did purchase the Movavi Video Suite and I installed that, but other than that, I don't think I did anything?

Try emailing their support. Email is on the proscan website. I have found them most helpful.

We're talking about ProScan and not Sentinel? Correct? I see a lot of post regarding Sentinel that has nothing to do with this problem.
Try deleting everything in the ProScan folder except the ProScan.cfg (config) file then reinstall ProScan.

That wasn't the problem. But I did finally find it. Apparently something somewhere along the way activated a second monitor that I don't even have. As you can see, there was an error message on it.

"Published Server ID or Name must contain a value."

Now that deleted the second monitor, I can run the program, but I have to click on that every time. I tried adding whatever to the server ID or name, but nothing stays in there and I have to click on it anyway whenever the program starts.Proscan.jpg
