Does anyone know if the protocol is available for the PRO-2053? I have done some web searching but have been unable to locate it. I will soon be aquiring one of these scanners and would like to be able to program via an Excel spreadsheet.

David,
I use Don Starr's excellent(and free) Win93 to program my 2053s. It is available at www.starrsoft.com . Are you just looking for a program or are you intent on coding your own?

The PRO-2053 has no protocol commands. Programming is accomplished by directly rewriting the memory chip much the same way as in cloning one radio to another. Memory map details are proprietary and encrypted. You would need to contact Radio Shack to obtain the map and key.

It is possible to edit your files in Excel and then paste them into Win93. The correct format is defined at http://www.starrsoft.com/freeware/win95/win95formatter.xls
