Can someone please explain Providence DPW ward 7 Every weeknight at 21:00 I hear people informing a dispatcher that they gave out so many meals and so many snacks I've never heard of DPW workers distributing food 🤔 What is this department? I hear it on RISCON TG 10257 on the Metro simulcast Thank you

I would suspect that Providence Communications decided to reuse an unused TG for something other than what it was labeled. They have a habit of doing that.

I also hear them in the summer months talking about pools and water parks on the same TG

Sounds like it could be the Providence Recreation Department then.

Yes. Remember that "Public Works" is a rather wide ranging term that covers a lot of municipal entities, which fall under the scope. It's not just street crews. Snow plows, engineering departments, water, sewer, heck even in some cities Sanitation (Garbage pickup) falls under it. So Gil's comment about the Rec Department makes sense.

TG10257 is assigned to the Providence Recreation Department. I've often heard every single recreation center doing a rollcall check-in, or should I say checkout, during the evening hours. There are 12 rec centers in the city. Facilities – Providence Recreation

Thank you Frankie That makes perfect sense now based on the radio transmissions I hear I was confused because RR has it labeled as Providence DPW ward 7 I will update the TG on my scanner to Providence Recreation center using Sentinel software 😀
