I have purchased the ProVoice Key for my BCD536HP & have installed Sentinal 1.06. But I can not find where or how to enter the ProVoice Key. The Firmware version on the scanner is 1.10.02. The database date is listed as 08/23/2015; which Sentinal says is the most current.

On the scanner go to menu - settings - upgrade - upgrade provoice and enter the key there. Be sure to put in the dashes.

If it's like my 436, click the menu button, then go to settings, and the 3'rd one down should say "Upgrade", then enter your provoice key. Hope this helps.

Also, your database is way out of date, the current update is dated 2/21/2016. The database updates are issued every Monday.

Go to Menu then Settings then Upgrade; the only choice is ProVoice. you will enter your Key by using the top DIAL (not the keyboard)

Forgive me if this has already been asked, but im going to purchase a new scanner (BCD536HP) and was wondering if it would be worthwhile to purchase the provoice upgrade? Im not sure if it will work or not on the new P25 system in Nova Scotia. Anyone know??

Thanks

I have a ProVoice key to enter, but I believe that I need to upgrade my firmware first. Right now, I am not able to do that for some reason; it will not connect. I am not sure if it is a Uniden server issue or what. Assuming that I get the firmware updated, is that when I will see the new menu item where I can enter the key?
I have already upgraded to the latest Sentinal software.
One more thing. How do I determine which WI-FI dongle I have? I am wondering if I need to go through the steps listed to correct the issues with some of those versions.

Connect using MASS STORAGE mode. You have to hit the ENTER button to do that.

Once updated, you will see the upgrade menu.

Check in the Menu under WiFi for the WiFi version.

OK, big success! I found out that my connection problem was not anything to do with the Uniden sever end, but instead, my cable! Apparently, the BCD436 and BCD536 cables are NOT interchangeable! At least not totally. While they can be used back and forth for many operations, you cannot do firmware updating unless you use the specific cable for each device.
I am attempting the WI-FI dongle update at this time. Bummer in a way because I had to pull my 536 back out of the console to disconnect the dongle to do the update. I will report back later....

I believe everything went well with the WI-FI dongle update..no errors!
I installed the SIREN app on my iPhone and one of the first things I was asked was to verify an IP address. I don't know if the partial address it was showing was a generic IP address, or if it was seeing my home router. Any ideas?

Performed the ProVoice upgrade on my BCD436HP yesterday and it went flawless (good job to UpMan and his team). Will give it a good test in the near future when we venture to the MS Gulf coast and all that ProVoice running around Hancock Co MS / St Tammany Parish LA.

ESN Entry, Provoice and DMR Keys

The sentinel method to get the ESN number is the way to go! Who would know that 0FF is considered a checksum number, especially with two letters in it. Once I saw it in Sentinel then it was obvious what needed to be entered into the registration to purchase upgrade keys. But now here's the real kicker. The key is like 80 characters long! Just kidding but it's easily as long as a Windows key so have fun trying to enter all that using the knob and cursor numbers on the scanner. UGH! And I sure as hell hope it doesn't get wiped out when the scanneris off any length of time. Took me roughly a year to figure out how to enter the ESN and checksum on that upgrade page. Had tried multiple times before and gave up after constantly getting "9 digit and 12 digit error notices". I'm posting this to help others.
