Does Butel update firmware now? I thought only Sentinel did?

The key is not stored on the SD card. The only way to remove the key from the scanner is to go into a hidden tech mode and tell it to remove the key. I'd recommend you not do that.

It's not a secret. Just not easy to access, Most owners could care less about it and not need to access it,
