Got this new prs-800 to listen to this web feed without the web:
City of Atlanta Police Zone 2, 5 and Fire Live Scanner Audio Feed

I've imported everything I can find from the GA library.
I dont see Atlanta Police Zone 2, 5 and Fire anywhere in the library.
I dont hear much of anything. I've tried the whip and an external 10m antenna.
Can someone please help me get these channels configured?
Or point me in the right direction.

Hello systemsplanet. You will need to look under Fulton County in the library. Then look up Atlanta Public Safety P25. That is where you can import all the APD zones, or, just Zones 2, 5, and fire. Have you done all the cpu and dsp updates for the scanner? Have you done an update for the library? There was an update on 8/20. You may want to wait until tomorrow for the latest. It takes a couple of minutes to update. There was a TG update done on the ATL system yesterday. Have had mine for just three days and still getting used to it. Similar to my other GRE/RS radios, but definitely different:)

Looking at the database, Atlanta uses a P25 system for public safety. The PSR-800 supports digital trunking systems so you are alright with that. Just go the page in the database, input the trunking system and add the talkgroups for zones 2 and 5 and the fire talkgroups.

now scanning, but no love

thanks !!!!
I found the channels and added them.

but, the radio scans right past them.
when it does stop the signal goes from
none to high and I hear a voice then it
drops. is my radio broke?
I'm using a 10m antenna.
I'm going to try it in the car today to see
if my location is the problem

There is your problem:wink: An antenna tuned to 28MHz will not work sufficiently to allow you to hear the 850MHz system. A 1/4~ 800MHz antenna is electrically 3" long. A 1/4~ 28MHz antenna is approximately 8' long. It will not act as a gain antenna for trunked systems. If you can get your hands on the RS 800MHz antenna, it will make a world of difference.
