BCD396XT/BCD996XT: PS/2 Extension for use with GPS Receiver

I have my 996XT mounted in car, and have the BC-GPSK GPS Receiver working great.. However, my cord up to the GPS signal disc on the dash is TOO short.... I am looking to get an PS/2 6' extension on ebay..
So my question:

Will a generic PS/2 extension work (from ebay) geared toward keyboard/mouse extensions?

Has anyone else done this?

Got a generic 6' long male and female PS/2 extension on ebay, and it works great! Now all my lines from the passenger dash are hidden.
