I have a LENOVO FLEX 5 laptop which has one audio jack for both audio input and aduio output. Has anyone found an interface with this kind of audio setup?? I recently moved and am trying to setup a HF station

Thanks

You can also build your own interface; there's numerous plans on the web, and the website below is a good starting point for many HF radios...

WM2U's Soundcard Interfacing Schemes

but perhaps the best place to go would be to the Yahoo group for whatever radio you're using.

Mike is correct. I built my own radio interface cable, an 8 pin mini-din for my Yaesu FT857. The only thing was it had separate input and output connections, as it must. So I bought an external USB sound card, and connected one connection to the internal card, one connection to the external card, then found which cards were best for input and output, and set it up as such.

I will suggest though, if you follow what I did, take time to invest in a decent USB sound card. My first I did not, and it tried cooking itself it became so hot. I spent about $35 for a decent card and it worked great for years until I chose to buy the SignaLink USB.

Great information. Missing is filtering the TX audio to get correct modulation on both high and low tones, AKA Twist. A series resistor and a capacitor on the 'mic' side to gnd, low pass filter.

Your best bet would be to get an interface with it's own built-in USB sound card; this way you don't have to fuss with the built-in laptop audio connector and can keep radio data stuff on it's own separate audio path.

Also, since it's incredibly poor form to allow the incredible variety of beeps, boops and boinks computers emit to blast out over the airwaves, using an interface with a separate built-in sound device is a great way to keep them from coming through while you're on the air (since those noises should still go to the built-in sound card of your computer).
