Hey all,

Are Pennsylvania State Police still using the Turnpike's Conventional frequencies? Or have they complete switched over to the PA-STARNet P25 system now for the length of the Pike? Thanks!

For some stuff. I believe some of their comms are on the 800 opensky as you don't hear them call out on traffic stops routinely.

Right now, PSP cars have OpenSky radios and they are patched to the turnpike's VHF. You'll sometimes hear Highspire dispatch telling troopers that they "went digital" if the OpenSky get glitchy or is in a bad coverage spot. PSP Troop T will be migrated to P25 in early 2021. At that point, my understanding is that they will be working off a separate dispatch talkgroup from the other turnpike units since PSP is ensuring all their comms are encrypted going forward.

:( That will be sad to lose PSP turnpike patrols.
