Hello, I want a handheld to monitor conventional freqs marine, cb, frs, gmrs and HAM.

Will the PSR-100 be sufficient, or do I need better to monitor HAM?

Also, I notice the PSR-100 doesn't have Signal Stalker. Is that because it's not needed for a 200 channel scanner?

Any better suggestions for conventional analog? TIA

Capt,

I'm in Wake County, NC with Raleigh being the nearest metropolitan area.

Again, VHF (marine), CB, FRS, GMRS and HAM are the serivces I want to monitor. Not interested in trunked services, only what local yokels might be using, not part of an organized emergency response, but rather ad hoc local nets in my AO.

It looks like the PSR-100 is just the ticket. Looking for confirmation, or better suggestion  TIA

The PS100 will handle those conventional services just fine but what is your budget for a radio?

The GRE PSR-100 is an affordable scanner with innovative features. Frequency coverage is: 29-54, 108-174 and 380-512 MHz.
It doesn't get the CB Band.

No CB, bummer! That's almost a necessity. What about HAM?

I had a Pro-106 which was way over kill for what I wanted to use it for, plus, triple trunking digital can just as easily go encrypted, so what's the point, although I would get the PSR-800 in a heart beat if not for the price tag.

I'm looking for something in the $100 - 200 range, but will spend what I need to for the basic functionality already listed, conventional plus HAM.

Any suggestions?

Nice, it's got Signal Stalker II as well. I was a bit concerned about that not being on the PSR-100. I'll look into it, thanks!

Our family has blister packs of FRS/GMRS to keep in touch with each other. I plan to study for the Technicians class HAM license, at which point I'll have more radios to acquire, but I got spoiled by the PRO-106, which again, was just more than I needed.

Now, it's time to find some transmissions to scan!!!
