Anyone know where to find the latest (last?) firmware versions for these old radios? I have a 400 that has, if I remember right, G 1.00 version. I'm not sure what my other 400 or the 300 have. The GREAmerica website is gone, basically a blank page with nothing to click now that they went under. I tried searching the forums and online but couldn't find anything.

If it is that important to you, Scanner Masters website says they can do the upgrades. Hopefully someone on here has the firmware they'll share with you. Do you really expect a firmware update will improve the life/reception of scanners as old as the PSR-300 and 400? Just asking.

Improve? No. In fact I'm not even sure what was included in each update as that information can't be found now either. I personally just like to keep things up to date as much as possible.

Rebanding was a thing back in it's day too, and my state police are still on the same 800mhz analog trunk for the time being (being phased out over the next few years for digital) and I still have a ton of analog in my area. I find that I use my 346xt more than my RS197/436HP in fact.

I did see that Scannermaster will do it for a price, but considering I paid $35 for one of the 400s recently I ain't paying more for firmware revisions. According to a PDF chart on their website version 1.7 is the latest for both, and you need 1.5 or higher for rebanding.

I still need to check the other 2 and see what versions they have. I have a feeling the other 400 that I've owned for ages was kept up long enough to have the latest version. Shame I can't find a way to clone it over to the others, only programming. If I can't find it, it isn't the end of the world, but it would be nice to know it has all of the updates GRE ever gave it.

GRE AMERICA, INC.

Product: PSR-300 / PSR-400

Classification: Production CPU Firmware Release NOTE

=================================================================================
CPU Firmware Version - G1.08 - 10/10/10

Change of PSR-300/400 from V1.07 to V1.08.

1. Line 4 of the LCD indicates the bank number while stop Scan or manual mode.

=================================================================================
CPU Firmware Version - G1.07 - 04/07/09

Corrected a problem with EDACS operation where certain control channel
frequencies would not track properly.

The frequency storing condition which generates the problem:

When the same frequency is stored in the control channel of Motorola System
and in the control channel of EDACS System, the software does not decode
EDACS Control Channel data properly.

Note: CPU Version G1.00-G1.05 does not generate this problem.

=================================================================================
CPU Firmware Version - G1.06 - 02/17/09

- Custom programmable trunking tables
Adds custom programmable trunking table functionality to the PSR-300 and
PSR-400. This feature allows the configuration of custom trunking band plans,
such as those used in rebanded 800 MHz Motorola™ trunked radio systems that
utilize 3600 baud control channels.

- Changed 470-512 MHz step size to 6.25 kHz
Many areas are proceeding with spectrum “refarming”, which adds new channels to
existing band plans. Consistent with other UHF bands currently in the radio,
the UHF “T” Band range is changed to use 6.25 kHz steps.

=================================================================================
CPU Firmware Version - G1.04 - 08/27/08

- The default mode of range 138.000-143.9875MHz is changed from FM to AM.

- Version 1.4 is able to clone with Radio Shack models of Version 1.4
PRO-163 (20-163) and PRO-164 (20-164).

=================================================================================
CPU Firmware Version - G1.03 - 05/01/08

- Fixed: Motorola UHF trunking bug when calculating the frequency 512.000

=================================================================================
CPU Firmware Version - G1.02 - 02/19/08

- Fixed: LTR ID code entry bug in ID bank. (Fixed from version G1.01)

- Fixed: EDACS ID code (AFS Format) entry bug in ID bank. (Fixed from version G1.01)

- Fixed: Search stops at 147.9950 MHz in the search amateur bands.

- Fixed: S-meter icon appears when start Search in Search mode and Sweeper mode.

I used the Wayback Machine (web.archive.org) and was able to get to the old GRE America webpage and download the latest firmware version 1.08 for the GRE PSR-300/PSR-400. I was going to post it here but I see RR member pro92b beat me to it!

If anyone needs anything else from GRE (firmware, owner's manuals, etc.) use the Wayback Machine as it is a GREAT resource for situations like this.
