Hey Im new to all this and I hate to give in, but im a bit confused as to where im going.

Im in Toronto so im trying to listen to Toronto Police service. Which I can do. Kinda.

I entered the red and blue control freq's and set them up as MOT and when I scan it seems to work but I'm getting everything from fire to ambulance and parking enforcement and police and something about a scraggly homeless guy. I dont know what I have done wrong or right, I was hoping to listen to my area which is 42 division and a little beyond but not quite all over the city. I pick up some tx and its a constant string where I pick up the total confab and then other times its just a short snippit then back to somewhere else.

At the bottom of my screen it says MOT:xxxxx (such as 04638,0640, on and on up to 25xxx)

How can I lean this into a smaller range so Im not listening to a gun call one minute and then some guy is illegally parked the next?

Any help would be great, if I havent gotten enough information here I can add more.

Thanks.

Hi Buddakhat, welcome to RadioReference :)

One thing you could do is to create sub-banks of only the talkgroups you are interested in.

Take Bank 1 for instance, there are 5 subbanks in that bank that could hold 10 talkgroups.
You could put the police in subbank 1, fire in subbank 2 ,EMS in 3 and so on. You can enable or disable whichever group you please depending on what you want to listen to. Actually, all of the banks have this configuration and you could hold up to 1500 talkgroups if you maxed the scanner out.

Check out pages 64-65 in the owner's manual to see what I am talking about.
