I have noticed that if I press and hold the backlight button for a few seconds and then let go, the light stays on continuously until the button is pressed again. I don't think this is documented anywhere. This is handy during AC adapter use when I want to see the display. Has anyone else noticed this?

That has been a standard feature on GRE manufactured scanners for Radio Shack for a number of years. I can't say if it's in the manual or not.

Yes, It's perfectly normal... Mine is the same way, However I do not think it's recorded in the manual...

The CD manual also states it on page 100.

The "light modes" listed in the manual are not the same thing as what I am talking about. There is no menu setting involved. I found an explanation of this feature in the PRO-96 manual, but not in any version of the PSR-500 manual that I could find.
