I generally hang mine by the belt clip from the dashboard air vents using a a piece of coathanger. Also works great with most rental cars. (just be sure to run your heater or a/c through the floor vents so it doesn't fry or soak your radio.

I have this Mountguys mount. For under $20 its at best an OK mount, but certainly not as sturdy as I would like. One of the cheap plastic grips broke off as I was installing the unit and if it weren't for krazy glue, I'd be out the cost of the thing. Luckily the glue job has held as I am super careful with the thing now. Also, where the rigid post (best part about it) mounts to the seat bolt on the car floor, there is about 1/4 inch of play in the joint which makes the whole unit a LOT less stable and secure then you'd like, but what can you expect for $16.99

Check this out, very sturdy and very easy to install.

I use the belt clip on mine to attach it to the sun visor.

PROs
Scanner is not easily visible to anyone outside the car when I'm driving.
Speaker is right in front of my head so I can hear well.
No installation costs.

CONs
Damage to sun visor covering (my car is old so I don't care, but you might).
Can't use sun visor for its intended purpose.
Inconvenient for attaching external antenna or other stuff to scanner.

I use the Mountguys floor mount model. It works well and keeps the scanner down below dash level. The only thing I had to do to modify it for my use was to secure the scanner in place with a small bungy cord to keep it from popping out. I have careless passengers getting in and out all the time and their knee tends to hit the mount. (Subaru Forester)

I found mine on e-bay for less than have it listed for.

By the way since no one has mentioned it, be sure that having a scanner in your car doesn't violate any state or city laws.

I've found these to be a fairly decent `quicky' holder for both PRO-97s and PSR-500s.

I just grabbed the first, easiest to get to, scanner that came to hand for an example. PSR-500s fit just as nicely. On top of these being cheap they are also easy to quickly move between vehicles depending upon which one one might be using or riding in.

Just an `Olde Fart's' 2¢ worth. {VB GRIN!}
