I tried searching but didn't really find anything...

I have a Motorola Type II SmartZone trunking system loaded into my PSR-500 scanner... State of Delaware Public Safety Trunking System, Statewide, Delaware - Scanner Frequencies this system, to be specific, with the Site 1 frequencies.

For about the last 7-10 days I've been noticing a few odd things... Seeing the scanner stuck on a talkgroup that hasn't had anybody transmit in several minutes (and using only a 10 or 20 delay setting), and hearing traffic that should be on a different talkgroup (hearing police dispatch and "tac" conversations come through a fire talkgroup). A friend of mine is having the same issues with a PSR-600, and has checked his portable Motorola at the same time to see if police are really on the fire channels, and they are not.

Neither of us have modified the programming on our scanners in months, and I have no idea what's causing this. I thought that maybe they were programmed with an extra-long delay that kept the scanner listening to a specific frequency long enough that another talkgroup started using it, but the talkgroups I've seen have issues are using the standard 20 or 10 delay setting. I considered this since there is increased radio traffic due to new talkgroups added in the past few months, but it doesn't make sense with such a short delay.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I use Butel ARC500Pro and can supply the current programming if needed.

IIRC, this issue has been mentioned here on the forums somewhat recently. It isn't your scanner, it's the system itself, and there's nothing a listener can do about it.

If I understood it correctly, as one user vacates a voice channel (frequency) the talkgroup hangs, and the next user on that VC comes across that TG, even if that user doesn't belong on that TG. It only happens on Type II systems.
