Hello,

When I am on a trunked system, and the scan stops on a talkgroup that it's found (via a wildcard setup), and I press the temporary L/O key, what am I actually locking out ?

The talkgroups it's found and is presently on ?

The CC ?

The System ?

Or,...?

Thanks,
Bob

Hi Bob,

Page 63 explains things pretty well. But don't worry, I don't claim that everybody should know every iota of the manual and then refuse to assist.. instead I'll tell ya how it works from my perspective.

If you are scanning a trunked system, using only a Wildcard object, then:

If it stops on a TGID and you hit TGL/O it will do the following:
1. create a new TGRP object in the scanlist where the wildcard TGRP is located
2. apply permanent lockout to that TGRP object that you locked out

This means that if you are scanning with only a wildcard and you hit TGL/O when it stops on a talkgroup that doesn't exist already, it'll add that TGRP object and _permanently_ lock it out. You'll never hear from it again while scanning unless you manually navigate to that talkgroup and disable lockout.

Mike is correct, but just to make sure everyone is talking about the same thing:

Mike is talking about the soft TG lockout key. The hard L/OUT key will lock out the talkgroup, but only until you power cycle the radio (this is temporary lockout).

Thanks for the clarification - because we may not have been talking about the same thing. I didn't even give a thought to the L/Out key. I didn't have the scanner in front of me to test before posting and was just going by the documentation. I've used the TGL/O to lock out a group but never L/Out key.
