I was going to put this in antennas, but I think it might be a settings issue. I'm new with the PSR-500. I live in Prince William Co Va but work in different counties in MD, so I pick up lots of diff signals. I have a Diamond RH77CA on a mag mount on top of my truck. Digital reception is excellent and crystal clear in the 800 band in all counties and in DC in the UHF band. But the analog 800 MHz signals are weak and full of static and popping. Same with the VHF analog signals. Is this just the way it is or do I need an diff antenna or to change settings in the 500? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That's a good antenna to start off with. I'm not familiar with the area and geographical locations of these systems you listen to, but could it be that your digital signals are clear because they are designed to provide that clarity from even a low signal strength?

Make sure your radio has Global Att turned off. This seems to be a big issue with PSR 500. For some dumb reason Global Att is turned on by default

Brechtd,

I know this is an old post, but I was also having problems with 800Mhz reception, and found your response.

After turning the Global Att off, the difference was night and day! Thank you so much, that resolved my issues!
