Has any one noticed that the priority function does not work when you either stop manually or pause on an object? The priority works well while scanning but if you are trying to keep track of several important channels and then stop momentarily on an object you lose that ability. Is this something that could be enabled by a firmware fix?

If you make a manual stop on a channel or object, you must want to listen to it, why would you want to disrupt that conversation. I kind a like it stops checking the priority when you stop on something you want to hear.

Or you could just put your important channels in the Favorites scanlist. Hit the favorites button and use priority also.

What about when you have two channels (frequencies or talk groups) you want to listen to at the same time. Say a fire working on a TAC channel and updates on dispatch. With the 500 it is a lot of work to set those two into favorites.

Lock onto the TAC and priority on dispatch. I've been there numerous times with other scanners and been glad to have had it work that way.

FUNC + FAV while stopped on an object in SCAN, MAN, or PGM mode doesn't seem like "a lot of work" to me.

PSR 500 priority

I dont want to stir a hornets nest but the function is available on many other scanners and that is why I asked in the first place. Instead of having to put stuff in favorites it would be a lot easier to be able to turn the priority off and on andd be able to use it while in manual or paused mode.

not to hijack but since this is about priority function... does anyone know if you have a talkgroup set to priority, but also have that talkgroup assigned to a scanlist, and you have that scanlist turned off, does the talkgroup still have priority? (assuming you have the default setting of: TGs in disabled scanlists are locked out)

There have been several events over the the time i've been in hobby when two agencies are involved. I would have the scanner sit on one of the channels. And the priority feature enabled. So for example I could listen to a police response to a fire/rescue incident or vice versa. Thus being able to keep up with two agencies. So if this feature won't work in that case, that's not good.

Stavro - put the two channels in your FAV scanlist and scan away. Better because you won't get interruptions.

If you own only 1 scanner, in the example you give, if they are both talking at the same time, you can only listen to 1 anyway. You'll still miss information.
