I'm curious how many PSR-500s have been built/sold. Anyone think it's a good idea to list our serial numbers in a "running list" to gain insight into this and perhaps as a theft deterrent/recovery mechanism?

NO an NO and NO

NEVER EVER give your serial number out. That is an item that can be used to verify your purchase, and also if your item is ever stolen or lost.

I believe I had seen something similar on Rich Wells' site years ago in the form of "owners clubs" for various radios... The serial number of my PSR-500 is on record with both GRE and my dealer. Defaced serial numbers basically render a radio worthless in terms of resale/repair. So what's the risk?

EDIT: If someone's hawking a stolen radio at, for instance, a hamfest, I'd like to know RR members might recognize it by its serial number.

EDIT: OT: I'm afraid your signature is a bit out-of-date.
