Hi all,

I had an issue last month while using my PSR-500 to do some P25 trunk analysis, and forgot about it until now.

I had the radio plugged in to AC power, and the USB cable (mine is the one with the ~2.5"x0.75" translucent blue square around the serial converter part) plugged in to both the netbook and the scanner, all the time. I would put the radio in TSYS/Analyze mode and find a frequency that was sending the CC I wanted to hear, and then when that happened, tell the software (either PRO96COM or Unitrunker) to start decoding from the scanner.

At that point, when the cable "activated" and the TX/RX lights came on, the scanner would behave as if the signal was greatly reduced - as if the antenna had been removed, or the attenuator had been activated.

I don't think either program is actually activating the attenuator, but I could be wrong. I'm wondering if I have a bad cable and need to get a replacement.

Anyone else experiencing this kind of behavior?
