Are there any recommended accessories for the PSR 600??? Is there a good recommendation on additional antennas? Anything that you just have to have with the PSR 600 please let me know.

Don't know your application, but I run it mobile with a through glass Radio Shack antenna and the Pro-197 on base with a Scantenna through an Electron box. Both are better then stock antenna or the PSR-500 with 800 MHz antenna.

Well i'll use it as base on the desk and the occasional mobile long trip. Just trying to see what people use with their PSR 600. I'm new to scanning and just about to get a 600. Do I need an 800 MHz antenna to pick up 800 MHz frequencies?

How do you mount the 800 antenna on one of base units? Do you use a 90degree elbow or a short peice of coax. Or do you leave it in the horizontal position????

A Scantenna will do very well for base. Otherwise, use hoser147's suggestion, use 90 degree and the 800.

I have an old 2.4G antenna I used for my WiFi adapter. I don't think the connector is right but if I found a way to connect it would this antenna work for my scanner?

RS 800 MHz Antenna

FWIW, I also use the Radio Shack 800 MHz antenna (#20-283) with the 90-degree adapter (#278-116) on my PRO-197 (virtually the same radio as the PSR-600, I believe), and I am astounded at how well the combination works across all bands. Good enough for my use, and certainly better than the stock antenna. The RS 800 MHz antenna even out-performs my old "monster" rubber duck stand-by, the Austin Condor, by a wide margin. Needless to say, I'm very impressed.

Looks pretty cool, too, when connected to the radio via the 90-degree adapter...

I read somewhere that when using an 800 mhz antenna it can actually prevent some of the othed frequencies from coming in so clear. Is this true?

I can only speak from my personal experience, but the RS 800 MHz antenna works very well in my location (central Phoenix), and allows me to hear everything that I want to hear. Most of our city services (including PD) are on an 800 MHz trunking system, and they come through crystal clear with amazing sounding audio. Our local fire department is still using the 154 MHz frequency range, however, but I am also able to receive their communications with excellent results. The state police (DPS) are at around 460 MHz and, once again, I get clear signals with full quieting. All with just the 800 MHz antenna. I might also add that I receive a surprising amount of "fringe area" communications with the same setup. A little static-y, but still with readable signals from some of our more distant adjacent communities.

I can only guess that by using the 800 MHz antenna, I am avoiding the supposed front-end overload that many others have complained about with the newer GRE-built radios, while enjoying the benefits of my new radio's acute sensitivity. Whatever it is, it works for me. Your mileage may vary, of course...
