I have a PSR-600 that if I scan 154.845 and scan only the scan list it's in, it stops on it everytime. If I enable any other scan list, it won't stop on 154.845 no matter how quit the rest of the scan lists are. I have tested this multiple times with a second scanner listening to it, the 600 passes it by without stopping, as soon as I disable the rest of the scan lists, it will stop on it.

Any and all idea's welcome.

For all others, I believe he is referring to Contra Costa County, California (CA) Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference.

Is 154.845 the only thing inside your scanlist or are there other frequencies? Do you have the CTCSS programmed for that frequency? Do you get a lot of interference on VHF?

Reason I am asking is because I have a Pro-106 (the twin of the PSR-500 which is the mobile version of the PSR-600). I have found that if you have significant RF interference near the scanner, it will mess with the decoding of tones which would make it so it passes right by an active frequency. The two solutions are pretty much either attenuating the signal or removing the tones all together.

Yes I have other channels programed, and to think of it, I don't hear them either, although they are not nearly as active as the dispatch channel.

Yes I have CTCSS programed in and don't usually have any RF problems as I'm using the stock antenna.

It's not a problem when it's the only scan list, just when it has multiple scan lists.

(You are correct on the system I'm monitoring. I stream it as well)

That's a bit strange, but I would still suggest that you first try to attenuate the signal if you haven't done so already (especially if you are nearby the repeater). If that doesn't work initially, then you might want to test out not having CTCSS programmed and setting it to None or to Search. The second suggestion would be dependent if you are prone to getting traffic from nearby areas using the same frequency. If neither of those work, you may want to test out moving the scanner around to see if it improves in a different location.

Are the other scan lists for convential or trunked systems? If they are for trunked systems, what is the CC Dwell Time setting? You could be spending most of your scanning time on the trunked systems.

I can say that I have suspected my 106 doing the same thing sometimes. (154.29500 MHz in this case). Most of my scan lists incorporate trunking P25 and conventional, so I feel like sometimes I miss out in traffic, but can't confirm without a second scanner around. What's the ideal setting for CC dwell?

Activate the attenuator. My PRO-197 (same as PSR600) won't stop on any VHF-hi freq unless the ATT is on.

I set the dwell to 3 on each the trunked systems I have programed into my pro 197 it scans trough the trunk systems a lot faster than when it was set to 0 an stopping on the conventional systems a lot better now than it was.

There is something screwey with 197's 500's 600's with a strong signal and a tone - dcs - nac programmed in..

Thanks. I'll give that a try, along with removing the tones...

Update,

I did remove the CTCSS tone and It does now stop on the channel. This shouldn't be about overload as I am miles from the nearest hi RF area and miles from the dispatch antenna. I usually don't receive any other agencies on this channel so I'll just leave it on search.

When I get the time I'll try to attenuate the channel and see what that does. I have one other 600 and a 500 and do not have the same problem on them, although the other 600 is in a diff. room. I can put the 500 next to this one with the CTCSS turned and and clone the radio's and receive everything just fine.
