I have noticed that with the new win10 os that when inserting into card reader the "dialogue box" that shows the options of what to do no longer pops up, whereas it did with win7.

Not sure if that has anything to do with it because I was able to write to card for my 536 and pull audio from the 800 micro.

And, as I said, the error was noticed when I went to check something on the 800 and it was no longer scanning. It had been scanning and there have been no issues.

Ok... so I've hooked my PSR-800 up to my laptop running Win10... and I've had no problems with the MicroSD access (sometimes EZ-Scan will give a message telling me to disconnect/reconnect, and that will fix everything).

As far as serial communication, that seems to work in that I can use Pro96Com to monitor trunked system activity, and I can open the COM port in a terminal program and see the raw data come pouring in... but in EZ-Scan, I'm not able to complete the various tasks that require serial communication - setting the clock, CPU and DSP firmware updates, etc. These actions all tell me that the scanner could not be found.

Anyone have any thoughts of things to try to get EZ-Scan to find my scanner for those specific functions?

Get a (micro) SD card reader. Much faster and more reliable. Personally .. I never use the USB except for a firmware update and that is very rare.

Until there is a better way, without the workaround, here are instructions on how to make things work for the PSR800.

1. Go to Start Menu
2. Hold down Shift key and press Restart under Power menu item.
3. Under Choose an Option .. select 'Troubleshoot'
4. Select 'Advanced Options'
5. Select 'Startup Settings'
Press Restart
Press 7 for Unsigned Drivers.

Once restarted .. login as normal.

6. Go To Device Manager in Control Panel
7. Select Ports (Com + LPT)
8. You should see .. USB Serial Device (ComX) when your PSR800 is connected.

You can now install the driver.

9. Right click on 'Update Driver Software' under that Com Port above.
10. Select "Browse My Computer for Driver Software"

At the bottom, select "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"

11. Highlight "GRECOM PSR-800 Serial Device"
12. Click Next
13. You will see "Windows cannot verify the publisher of this driver software"
14. Select "Install this driver software anyways"
15. Click Close

The driver will now be installed as "GRECOM PSR-800 Serial Device (ComX)"

You can now use your scanner.
Thank you Ed....

possibly an easier fix (although it would take up some space) is to create a windows 7 virtual machine with Virtual Box(free). then you could just use that if windows 10 is giving you attitude. I guess some might consider this overkill. just throwing that out there.

.inf File 800

" ................................. I have attached the PSR800 USB driver .. in case you need it ... "

I know, old thread. Over the last two years I had a bunch of home renovations done. Many things got packed away (likely not to be seen again, lol). I recently realized I had not seen my two 800's for a while. Took about 45 minutes to find them, lol. Lotta updating needed. Well, now I have a new computer and I get the old 800 driver SNAFU (no EZScan CD). Did several searches on the Forums for ".inf" and finally found your post. A Godsend!!! THANK YOU FOR THE ATTACHMENT!!!!

I am attaching the same file (pay it forward) to maybe help some other lost soul.
